Sport Singapore announced that sports facilities will need to implement vaccination status checks if activities are held indoors and with the provision of shared equipment in a press release on Aug. 7.
The Multi-Ministry Taskforce (MTF) said on Aug 6. that with better protection against infection and severe illness, fully-vaccinated individuals may participate in higher-risk activities where masks are removed, in groups of up to five persons such as indoor high-intensity mask-off sports.
Vaccination checks to be conducted
Indoor sports facilities are required to effectively implement vaccination-differentiated safe management measures (VDS).
This includes checks on the vaccination status of all staff and participants, that need to be recorded manually or electronically.
Those who do not have their vaccination status verified will be denied participation in indoor unmasked activities.
Facilities that do not implement checks on vaccination status will only be allowed to continue if they provide indoor masked activities without the provision of equipment.
Provision of common equipment
Operators will also have to verify the vaccination status of all participants and ensure that only fully vaccinated individuals are allowed to use common equipment in indoor facilities.
These types of equipment include weights, strength, or resistance training equipment, climbing walls, and yoga mats.
For outdoor facilities, operators can provide common equipment.
Vaccination status checks are still required upon entry for facilities that provide common equipment even if they do not offer unmasked activities.
The operators have to ensure that thorough sanitisation is done at regular intervals to minimise the risk of transmission via common surfaces.
