Olympics: S'pore beats France in women's table tennis team, will next face China in quarter-finals

Singapore's women's table tennis team, Yu Mengyu, Lin Ye and Feng Tianwei won against France during the Tokyo Olympics 2020 today (Aug. 2).

The team will be facing China next in the quarter finals slated for Tuesday (Aug. 3) at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium.

During the opening doubles match, the Yu Mengyu and Lin Ye beat France's Stephanie Loeuillette and Yuan Jianan 3-0.

Meanwhile, in the single's match, Feng Tianwei won three matches out of best-of-five against France's Prithika Pavade.

Yu Mengyu then beat her opponent Yuan Jianan 3-1 in the second singles games.

The Chinese women's table tennis trio, Chen Meng, Sun Yingsha and Wang Manyu beat Austria 3-0 yesterday (Aug. 1).

Team Singapore brought back a silver medal for table tennis women's team category during the 2008 Beijing Olympics after facing China in the finals.
