To encourage more seniors to get vaccinated against Covid-19, the Health Promotion Board (HPB) has introduced a new programme called 'Let’s Get Our Seniors Vaccinated'.

Those who successfully refer seniors above the age of 60 for their vaccination will receive a token of appreciation in the form of a S$30 e-voucher.

Token of appreciation

The token of appreciation is only given out when:

  • The referrer and referred seniors are both eligible for the programme.
  • The referrer has successfully pre-registered for the programme and received a SMS confirmation before the senior’s first dose.
  • The referrer accompanied the senior for his/her first vaccination dose at the vaccination centres and successfully completed the registration process on-ground.
  • The referred senior has received their first dose of vaccine by Nov. 30.
  • The senior completes both doses of vaccine and HPB verifies that the senior has been fully vaccinated (i.e. two weeks have passed after the second dose).

The e-voucher can be found on the Healthy365 mobile app, where it can be used either online or in-store at a variety of merchants such as F&B and retail outlets, shopping malls, and supermarkets.

The vouchers are valid for 90 days only.

One individual can refer and receive a token of appreciation for up to 10 seniors. Of course, those that wish to continue to encourage and accompany seniors for their vaccination can continue to do so.

Seniors most at-risk

As of Aug. 12, 84 per cent of seniors above the age of 60 have completed both doses of the vaccine, while 89 per cent have received at least one dose.

Seniors are the most vulnerable group of the population with the highest risk of becoming seriously ill should they contract Covid-19.

Additionally, some seniors still hesitate to get their jabs as they remain unfamiliar with the importance and benefits of vaccination or have other concerns about the vaccine such as its side effects.

Singapore citizen, Permanent Resident, Employment Pass holder or Work Permit holders over the age of 17 can refer unvaccinated seniors above 60 years old.

One simply needs to complete a pre-registration form, which includes filling out particulars for both the referrer and the senior.

A confirmation SMS will then be sent to the referrer in the following one or two days.

A referrer is required to accompany the senior for their jab. They are also encouraged to care for and support them after each dose.

Those who are not vaccinated are also eligible as referrers for this programme.

However, HPB added that all are encouraged to get vaccinated, and that it would be "more assuring" for a vaccinated individual to be the one supporting a senior for his/her vaccination.

The referral programme will end on Nov. 30. You can find more information about the programme on HPB's website here.
