Two men were seen entering a burning building to check whether anyone was trapped inside, prior to the arrival of emergency services personnel.

Thankfully, there was no one in the building at the time, and firefighters managed to bring the fire under control.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Rachel Ong, shared this in a Facebook post about the fire, citing multiple accounts of the brave act that were shared with her.

"Bravo for their courage, hopefully we get to meet to properly thank them!" she wrote.

According to Facebook user Clive Hoon, one of the men was captured in a short video clip of the incident, while the other man was a GrabFood deliveryman.

What happened

In a statement to Mothership, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the fire on Aug. 10 at around 7pm.

The location of the incident was at 243 Pasir Panjang Road — a colonial bungalow where the Pasir Panjang branch of the Maple Bear Preschool is located.

SCDF said it conducted forced entry into the premises and found that no one was in the premises at the time of the fire.

The fire involved the contents of the preschool, but was "largely confined to the front portion of the premises, SCDF said.

The fire was extinguished by SCDF using two water jets.

There were no reported injuries, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
