The Mid-Autumn Festival may not be here for another month or so, but that doesn’t mean you can’t start preparing for it.

Premium Mala Paste with Assorted Nuts (Beetroot-flavoured Skin) Mooncake

Peach Garden Chinese restaurant has recently released its first-ever Premium Mala Paste with Assorted Nuts (Beetroot-flavoured Skin) Mooncake that is sure to tease any spice lover’s taste buds.

Premium Mala Paste with Assorted Nuts (Beetroot-flavoured Skin), S$71.69 for four pieces

According to the brand, one will be able to smell and taste the fragrant mala at first bite, feel the crunch from the mixture of ingredients, and slowly savour the mala flavour as it fills one’s palate.

Additionally, the level of spiciness in each mooncake is not too overpowering, so it’s definitely suitable for both mala connoisseurs and people who don’t have a high spice tolerance.

Best-selling mooncakes with no added preservatives and less oil

If Mala’s not for you, consider getting any of Peach Garden’s best-selling mooncakes.

Handcrafted by a team of professional chefs using premium ingredients with no added preservatives and less oil, here’s our review of these delectable treats:

Premium Black and White Sesame Paste - S$69.55 for 4 pieces

At first bite, the black sesame paste was smooth and fragrant, whilst the white sesame seeds gave just the right amount of crunch to the entire mooncake.

The mooncake also wasn’t too sweet, which is great for someone like me who’s trying to cut down on my sugar intake.

A solid 8/10.

Premium Jackfruit Paste with Melon Seeds - S$69.55 for 4 pieces

A fruity twist to the traditional mooncake, the Premium Jackfruit Paste Mooncake with Melon Seeds is made with pure jackfruit puree and no artificial flavourings.

I enjoyed how the mooncake's core was fully filled with smooth jackfruit paste and bits of melon seeds, combining the fruit's sweet, almost pungent taste with the melon seed’s grainy texture.

If you're a jackfruit lover, you'll definitely like this. 7/10.

Healthy White Lotus Paste with Ginger (Reduced Sugar) - S$69.55 for 4 pieces

First thought that came to my mind while eating this? Contrast.

The smooth, white lotus paste of the mooncake infused with ginger presented a delightful contrast of flavours - at once sweet, yet peppery, with a slightly spicy aroma.

An easy 7/10.

Signature Golden Lotus Paste with One Yolk (Reduced Sugar) - S$69.55 for four pieces

From the strong and distinctive flavour of the yolk to the rich golden lotus aroma, the flavours in this mooncake were well balanced without overwhelming one another.

Giving this an 8/10 for its compatibility with tea.

Premium White Lotus Paste with Macadamia Nuts (Reduced Sugar) - S$71.69 for four pieces

The most “normal” mooncake of the lot, with the macadamia nuts making up for its otherwise average taste.

If you’re a fan of OG traditional mooncakes without all that jazz, then this may be your thing. 6/10.

Signature Premium White Lotus Paste with Two Yolks (Reduced Sugar) - S$73.83 for four pieces

My favourite mooncake because I’m partial towards mooncakes with yolks, let alone one with two yolks.

Would recommend this for anyone who loves the natural sweet fillings of white lotus paste, contrasted with golden yolks that lend a delightful saltiness. 9/10.

Peach Garden Deluxe Assorted Nuts with Kam Hua Ham - S$74.90 for 4 pieces

A more savoury choice, this mooncake goes full on with its myriad of flavours and nutty textures.

Apart from the nuts, I couldn’t quite tell what exactly I was eating, but I appreciated this mooncake’s complexity and slightly sweet yet tarty layers.

Good choice for anyone who’s feeling particularly adventurous. 8/10.

Two new and exciting flavours

Apart from the Mala and traditional mooncake flavours, Peach Garden has also come up with two more new and exciting flavours to give you the kick you need for this festive occasion:
