Four Malaysian Royal Air Force personnel died following a shooting incident at a camp in Kota Samarahan, Sarawak on the morning of Aug. 13, Malay Mail reported.
The Malaysian air force said the attack took place at 7:15am at the camp's guard house.
Police investigations are ongoing.
Suspect asked whether victims wanted to live or die
According to another Malaysian news site, The Vibes, Sarawak police commissioner Aidi Ismail said one of the personnel, identified as Ho Swee Boon, was believed to have shot three of his colleagues before killing himself.
He added that there were a few personnel at the guard house.
"The suspect had even asked them whether they wanted to live or die," Aidi said.
He further elaborated that one of the victims, Sharif, tried to calm Ho down but the gunman then shot him in the stomach. It prompted others to run from their safety, he added.
The Vibes further reported that Ho was with the air force for 10 years and was previously based in Kuantan.
Ho was under quarantine order
Malaysian Malay language news, Getaran, reported that the police commissioner said Ho had no issues interacting with his colleagues.
"The suspect was said to have no problems in his interactions with his colleagues, but at this point in time we are not certain if he had any personal problems," said Aidi.
The report also added that Ho was married and was undergoing quarantine.
Three personnel, including Ho, died at scene, while another victim who was shot succumbed to his injuries at Kota Samarahan Heart Centre at 9.15am.
The air force also said there was no known motive and urged everyone not to speculate on the incident.
