SAF Band's principal saxophonist
On August 22, The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Band identified him as ME2 (Military Expert 2) Muhammad Khairunnizam Bin Amran.
Since his enlistment in 2004, the father of two has attained a Licentiate Diploma in Saxophone Performance (LTCL) as well as the Fellowship of the Trinity College London in Saxophone Recital (FTCL).
Having been with the SAF Band for the past 17 years and counting, the principal saxophonist has performed at international military tattoo festivals in various countries such as Canada, China, Japan, Russia, Sweden, and the U.S.
He also led the saxophone quartet's performance at the Brickell Academy in Norfolk, Virginia, in 2017.
Despite being classically trained, the Master Sergeant is also adept at other musical genres including pop, jazz and fusion.
He has performed with other renowned ensembles such as Singapore's only all-professional, all-Singaporean and independent big band Summertimes Big Bang and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra.
The 37-year-old has also been featured regularly as a soloist with the SAF Central Band and other local ensembles such as Sparkwinds.
