The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed 53 new cases of Covid-19 infection in Singapore as of 12pm on Sunday (Aug. 15).
This brings the total number of Covid-19 cases reported in Singapore to 66,172.
There are 50 new cases of locally transmitted Covid-19 infection.
Of these cases, there are 30 linked cases. These have already been placed on quarantine.
Another six linked cases were detected through surveillance.
14 are currently unlinked.
There are three imported case, who was detected and isolated upon arrival in Singapore.
Decrease in number of new community cases
Overall, the number of new cases in the community has decreased from 571 cases in the week before to 354 cases in the past week.
The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased from 153 cases in the week before to 98 cases in the past week.
The seven-day moving average number of all linked community cases and all unlinked community cases are 36.6 and 14.0 respectively.
Condition of hospitalised cases
443 cases are currently warded in hospital. There are currently 32 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation, and eight in critical condition in the ICU.
Eight amongst these 40 cases are fully vaccinated.
Of those who have fallen very ill, 33 are seniors above 60 years, of whom 26 are completely unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.
According to MOH, there is continuing evidence that almost all fully-vaccinated individuals do not suffer serious disease when infected, unless they had underlying medical conditions that made them more susceptible.
Over the last 28 days, the percentage of unvaccinated who became severely ill or died is 9.6 per cent, while that for the fully vaccinated is 1.2 per cent.
No new clusters, My First Skool cluster grows by 11
There are no new clusters today.
The cluster involving My First Skool at 54 Chin Swee Road grows by 11 cases today, to a total of 31 cases.
Nine clusters have been closed.
There are currently 102 active clusters, ranging between three and 1,155 infections.
Progress of national vaccination programme
As of Aug. 14, a total of 8,399,585 doses of Covid-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme (Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty and Moderna) have been administered.
This covers 4,424,312 individuals, with 4,104,828 individuals having completed the full vaccination regimen.
In addition, 147,528 doses of other vaccines recognised in the World Health Organization’s Emergency Use Listing (WHO EUL) have been administered as of Aug. 14, covering 83,536 individuals.
In total, 75 per cent of the Singapore population has received the full regimen or two doses of Covid-19 vaccines, and 81 per cent has received at least one dose.
