The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed 121 new cases of Covid-19 in Singapore on Sunday (Aug. 1).

This brings the total number of cases in Singapore to 65,102.

38 unlinked cases

There are 113 new cases of locally transmitted Covid-19 infection.

Of the 113 cases, 70 are linked to previous cases, and have already been placed on quarantine. Five are linked to previous cases and were detected through surveillance.

38 are currently unlinked.

In addition, there are seven seniors above the age of 70 who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and at risk of serious illness.

There are also eight imported cases, who had already been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) or isolated upon arrival in Singapore.

One was detected upon arrival in Singapore, while seven developed the illness during SHN or isolation.

83 active clusters

There are 10 new clusters today, bringing the current total to 83 active clusters, ranging between three to 1,045 infections per cluster.

Yishun Community Hospital and Westlite Mandai Dormitory are among the new clusters announced.

Less community cases, more unlinked cases

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has decreased from 1,056 cases in the week before, to 862 cases in the past week.

MOH warns that Singapore is likely to continue to see high number of cases in the coming days, as the government steps up efforts to detect them to contain their spread in the community.

On the other hand, the number of linked cases in the community has increased from 119 cases in the week before, to 282 cases in the past week.

The seven-day moving average number of all linked community cases and all unlinked community cases are 82.9 and 40.3 respectively.

Condition of hospitalised cases

590 cases are currently warded in the hospital, most of whom are well and under observation.

There are currently 35 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation, and eight in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Among these 43 cases, four are fully vaccinated.

Of these, three require oxygen supplementation, while one requires ICU care due to underlying medical conditions.

In addition, 29 seniors above the age of 60, of whom 26 are completely unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, have fallen very ill.

Over the last 28 days, 55 local cases required oxygen supplementation, were admitted to ICU or passed away.

33 are unvaccinated, 18 are partially vaccinated and four are fully vaccinated.

Progress of vaccination programme

According to MOH, 61 per cent of Singapore's population has — as of Jul. 31 — been fully vaccinated; 77 per cent has received at least one dose.

The total number of doses of Covid-19 vaccines administered under the national vaccination programme is 7,576,612, covering 4,307,602 individuals.

3,391,799 individuals have completed the full vaccination regimen.

In addition, 104,061 doses of Sinovac vaccines have been administered as of Jul. 31, 2021, covering 74,121 individuals.
