The Ministry of Education (MOE) had some good news for students on July 29.

National Day, which falls on Aug. 9, is a public holiday. MOE therefore designates Aug. 10 as a school holiday.

It confirmed with the Straits Times that Aug. 10, a Tuesday, will remain a school holiday.

This is despite the fact that the main National Day Parade has been postponed to Aug. 21, a Saturday.

The parade will now take place after the end of Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) measures, which kicked in after a recent spike in Covid-19 cases.

There will still be a "ceremonial" parade held on Aug. 9, however.

But if you're wondering if this means we'll get an extra school holiday after the main parade, MOE has dashed those hopes.

Aug. 23, the Monday after the parade, will be yet another ordinary school/work day.
