On July 18, McDonald's Singapore announced that it has decided to impose a 2-pax dine-in rule for all customers, regardless of vaccination status.
This measure will take effect from July 19 to August 8.
After MOH change in rules
The Ministry of Health (MOH) announced on July 16 that dining-in at F&B establishments in Singapore will be dialled back to groups of up to two persons, after a steep rise in Covid-19 cases as a result of the KTV cluster.
However, MOH also stated that fully-vaccinated individuals may continue to dine-in in groups of up to five persons at participating F&B establishments that have put in place systems to check the status of such individuals.
In addition, unvaccinated individuals with a valid negative pre-event test result, recovered individuals, or children below the age of 12 may also join in such groups of five.
2-pax dine-in rule in McDonald's Singapore
McDonald's cited the "re-emergence of Covid-19 cases" and tightened measures on July 16 when announcing its decision.
Explaining the decision, McDonald's Singapore general manager Benjamin Boh said in a media advisory:
"As a brand that serves thousands of people of varying age groups every day, keeping our employees and customers safe remains our top priority. We appreciate the choice given to F&B establishments to decide which protocols work best for them, and we’ve decided on two pax dine-in as the safest option for our customers and employees."
Customers can continue to opt for delivery, drive-thru and takeaway options.
