Chong Boon Market & Food Centre to close from Jul. 18 until Aug. 1 after Covid-19 cases linked to it

In addition, three new clusters have emerged and there are now a total of 29 active clusters.

MOH announced today (July 17) that two confirmed Covid-19 cases have been linked to Chong Boon Market & Food Centre at 453A Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10. Three more cases are pending confirmation, and investigations are underway.

As such, Chong Boon Market & Food Centre will be closed to all members of the public from July 18 to August 1, 2021 to break the chain of transmission and enable deep cleaning of the premises.

In addition, all individuals who work in the market and food centre will be placed on quarantine, and tested during quarantine.

Increase in community cases

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed 68 new cases of Covid-19 infection in Singapore as of 12pm on July 17.

The number of new cases in the community has increased by 222 – from 17 cases in the week before to 239 cases in the past week.

The number of unlinked cases in the community has also increased by 14 – from eight cases in the week before to 22 cases in the past week.

The seven-day moving average number of all linked community cases and all unlinked community cases are 31 and 3.1 respectively.

Three new clusters out of 29 active clusters

There are currently 29 active clusters, ranging between three to 148 infections.

Of which, three of the clusters are new and they are:

  • Case 64782
  • Case 64850
  • PSC Express Pte Ltd

All three clusters have a total of three cases each.

Eleven new cases were added to the Jurong Fishery Port and Hong Lim Market & Food Centre cluster, which emerged on July 16. This clusterhas a total of 19 confirmed Covid-19 cases now.

Khoi Grill & Hotpot, another cluster that emerged on July 16, has one new case, and the total now stands at eight confirmed Covid-19 cases.

Ongoing transmissions at KTV lounges

The KTV cluster has 29 new cases, with total number of cases at 148.

MOH has also found likely ongoing transmission at the following KTV lounges/clubs:

  • Quinn KTV at 207A Syed Alwi Road
  • Club AURA  at 442 Orchard Road, Orchard Hotel
  • Club Ion at 271 Bukit Timah Road
  • Icon II at 35 Selegie Road, Parklane Shopping Mall
  • Club Lucky Thai at 5001 Beach Road, Golden Mile Complex
  • M. Sakhon at 5001 Beach Road, Golden Mile Complex

Progress of vaccination programme

Under the national vaccination programme, MOH has administered a total of 6,650,677 doses of Covid-19 vaccines to 4,118,334 individuals, as of July 16.

2,609,367 individuals have completed the full vaccination regimen, consisting of 77,024 recovered persons who received at least one dose and 2,532,343 who received their second dose.

MOH said that there is continued evidence that vaccination helps to prevent serious disease when one gets infected.

There are currently five cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation, and one in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
