An influencer from Quzhou, China, died after falling 48m from a crane.
According to Business Insider, Xiao Qiumei was allegedly recording herself at the time of the incident on Douyin, which is the Chinese version of video-sharing platform TikTok.
The 23-year-old was apparently filming in a crane cabin when she fell from the height.
On Chinese social media app Weibo, users reported that the incident took place as early as July 17, 2021.
A viral video of the alleged incident shows footage as the phone fell from the crane, with a short shriek in the background.
Family said she's a "professional" at work
According to news.com.au, Xiao's family confirmed that she fell to her death after finishing her shift as a crane operator.
However, they denied that she was filming before the incident happened.
They said that she was a professional at work and would keep her phone in her bag while working.
Her family added that she simply missed a step and fell as a result.
Popular for showing videos at work
Xiao rose to fame on Douyin after regularly sharing videos of her job as a crane operator.
However, following the news of her death, it seems that her account has been deleted from the platform.
She leaves behind two preschool-going daughters.
