The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) has put up an appeal for information on a recent cat abuse case that occurred in Sengkang.
The incident was widely circulated after a member highlighted it on Facebook group Sayang Our Singapore's Community Cats on May 31, 2021.
An Instagram Story showed a young man hitting the ground next to the cat with a cane and saying, "He not scared leh."
The act was filmed at Block 298C Compassvale Street.
When there was no reaction from the cat, the youth attempted to hit it. The cane appeared to make contact with the feline, who sprinted away.
The youth then chased after it.
SPCA is seeking the identity of the youth to assist with investigations.
Those with relevant information can call a 24/7 hotline at 6287 5355 (ext. 9), or e-mail inspector@spca.org.sg.
Information provided will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
