According to a press release by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) on June 2, there are 27 cases of Covid-19 at MINDSville@Napiri, a home for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities by the Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS).
This includes Case 63924, a 37-year-old female Singaporean, who was reported in the Ministry of Health's (MOH) evening press release on June 1.
About 63924
The first case reported from the Home, Case 63924, developed a runny nose and cough on May 30, before coming down with a fever on May 30.
She was conveyed to a polyclinic the next day where she underwent both an antigen rapid test (ART) and a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.
Both returned positive results on May 31. Her serology test is pending.
Out of the 26 new cases, 22 have preliminarily tested positive and their details will be shared tomorrow after verification of test results. Only the details of four cases are shared in the MSF release on June 2.
MSF said that out of the 27 cases, 23 are residents and the rest are staff.
Other four cases
The four cases reported today include:
- Case 63949: A 30-year-old female Philippines national who works as a nursing aide.
- Case 63950 is a 55-year-old female Singaporean who is a resident.
- Case 63961 is a 64-year-old female Singaporean who is a resident.
- Case 63962 is a 47-year-old female Singaporean who is a resident.
All 255 residents and staff tested for Covid-19 infection
MSF said upon the confirmation of Case 63924, the Home immediately took additional measures to ensure the health and well-being of all residents and staff, including administering tests for all 255 residents and staff.
Of the 27 cases, 23 were asymptomatic and were discovered through proactive testing.
Those who presented with symptoms were promptly isolated while awaiting their swab test results.
The home has also halted all admissions to and discharges from the Home and disallowed all visitors from entering.
The home has since completed a thorough cleaning and disinfection of its premises.
MSF noted that this was on top of measures that had already been put in place earlier, including organising residents into cohorts and staff into split teams and restricting resident cohorts and staff teams to pre-designated zones within the Home.
All other residents, staff and other close contacts including clients, visitors and vendors, have been placed on quarantine, and will be regularly tested during quarantine.
MSF is working closely with MINDS to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.
