If you feel like travelling to a different time and place without having to leave Singapore, this newly-opened diner may make you feel like you're in America during the 50s and 60s.

Having had their soft launch on June 14 with takeaway orders, Joji's Diner is now ready for dine-in groups of two.

Diner's facade and interior

If the red and white facade with a matching awning and brightly-lit neon sign are not eye-catching enough, check out the interior's bright yellow and red colour scheme with checkered floor tiles.

Completing the look are function retro items that were specially shipped in from the U.S. -- a jukebox and gumball machine, albeit filled with rubber balls instead of gumballs.

Speaking to Mothership, George, the owner of Joji's Diner, said he wanted to bring an "affordable American diner-inspired ambience" to Singapore.

He envisioned Joji's Diner as a casual place where people can show up however they like, even in flip-flops, and dine however they wish, whether it's alone or with friends.

Although the restaurant space is able to accommodate 40 pax, the seating capacity is currently limited to 18 pax in light of the Covid-19 restrictions.

Do note that due to the reduced seating capacity, the average waiting times for a table during lunch and dinner are about 45 minutes.

While there is typically no queue outside of these peak dining hours, the staff usually prepares stock during this time and menu items will be available while stocks last.

To avoid disappointment, George recommends checking their Instagram page @jojisdiner for updates.

They only serve dine-in and takeaway orders for now.
