Hougang residents might be familiar with an ice cream uncle who wanders around the estate in the evenings.
On Monday (June 28), Member of Parliament (MP) for Hougang Dennis Tan wrote in a Facebook post that he was conducting his estate walk when he heard a "familiar ring".
He soon found that the ring came from the famous Hougang ice cream uncle.

Long queue
Hougang residents quickly formed a queue to buy their favourite ice creams, Tan said.

According to Tan, the ice cream uncle has been selling his ice cream in Hougang "for a long time".

The ice cream sandwich, which is Tan's favourite, was sold out, so he went for a cone instead.
Tan wrote in his Facebook post: "Still I enjoyed the ice-cream and the impromptu conversations with residents in the queue."

Has been around for decades
In the comment section of Tan's Facebook post, some commenters stated that the ice cream uncle has been selling his ice cream for decades.
Tan also explained in the comment section that the ice cream uncle still makes his own ice cream till this day.
Visits various blocks in Hougang
Other commenters revealed that the uncle sells his ice cream at various blocks in Hougang, including blocks located at Hougang Avenue 3 and 5.
