Afternoon tea can be a luxurious experience that comes with a premium price tag.
However, it can also be anything but.
The Headless Baker, a hawker stall selling bakes in Ghim Moh Food Centre, sells a variety of bakes, including scones and teacakes starting at S$2 each, so you can recreate your own at-home afternoon tea without breaking the bank.
Scones
Regardless of how you choose to pronounce it, scones are a staple during afternoon tea.
Available in both savoury and sweet varieties, each scone costs S$2.
Teacakes
The Banana and Pandan X Gula are the lowest-priced teacakes at S$2 each.
While some of the teacakes are only available during the weekends, these two are available on both weekdays and weekends.
Other bakes
Their caneles sell for S$3 each, but you can get them at S$2.50 each if you buy two for S$5.
They also stock other bakes ranging from S$3 to S$5 per piece.
If teacakes are too small for your catering needs, or for your own consumption, they offer full cakes for selected flavours.
Their box sets (S$16/S$17) are also perfect for gifts or if you wish to taste an assortment of their bakes.
