Danish footballer Christian Eriksen collapsed at the 43rd minute of the Euro 2020 match against Finland on June 13, 2021 (Singapore time).
The 29-year-old was immediately attended to by medics on the pitch.
Doctors provided medical aid to the player for more than 10 minutes before taking him away on a stretcher.
UEFA suspended the match subsequently.
Match resumed
The match was initially thought to be called off, but was resumed.
UEFA decided to resume the European Championship match close to two hours after Eriksen's collapse.
The match at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, Denmark started at 6pm.
The players took to the field again at 8.30pm.
This was after a request made by players of both teams to continue playing.
UEFA agreed to restart the match with the last 4 minutes of the first half to be played, followed by a 5-minute half-time break, before the second half kicked off.
Standing ovation
The Danish players returned to the pitch on home ground to a standing ovation from the crowd and the opposing team.
Finnish fans chanted “Christian”, and the Danes responded with “Eriksen.”
Denmark eventually lost the match 0-1 to Finland, which is the country's first outing in the major Euro tournament.
The 59th minute goal was barely celebrated by the Finnish players.
Tributes and well-wishes
Tributes and well-wishes also poured in for Eriksen during the competition.
Belgian player Romelu Lukaku dedicated his goal against Russia to Eriksen.
He is conscious and his condition has stabilised.
