New Covid-19 cluster at Bedok hair salon, 1-month-old baby among 13 new community cases in S'pore on June 5

The cluster at MINDSville@Napiri grows to 30.

A new Covid-19 cluster was formed at Atatcutz Singapore, a hair salon in Bedok, the Ministry of Health (MOH) announced on June 5. Two of them are barbers at the shop.

The MOH has earlier confirmed 18 new cases of Covid-19 in Singapore as of 12pm, June 5.

This brings the total number of cases to 62,176.

There are 13 new cases of locally-transmitted Covid-19 infection, all of whom are linked to previous cases, and have already been placed on quarantine.

Summary of new cases linked to previous cases

There are 13 new community cases linked to previous Covid-19 cases.

Of these 13 cases:

  • Four are linked to the new cluster at Atatcutz Singapore (348 Bedok Road). This includes one delivery rider for Pizza Hut, two barbers and one manager at Workforce Singapore.
  • One case is linked to the McDonald's delivery riders cluster, a Sri Lanka national who is currently unemployed.
  • Three more cases are linked to the MINDSville@Napiri, including two residents and one nursing aide, bringing the cluster to 30 cases in total.
  • One case, a foreign domestic worker,  is linked to the Tektronix cluster.
  • Two cases, including a 25-year-old Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) student and a one-month-old infant, are linked to case 63714.  The infant developed a fever on May 26. His test result first came back negative. He was tested again on June 4 and his result was positive.
  • One is linked to Case 63922.
  • One is linked to Case 63964.

Five imported cases

In addition, there are five new imported cases, all of whom had already been placed on Stay-Home Notice or isolated upon arrival in Singapore.

Of these:

  • Three are returning Singaporeans or Singapore Permanent Residents from Canada and India
  • One is a Student's Pass holder from the UAE
  • One is a Special Pass holder who is a sea crew who arrived from Thailand.

33 more cases discharged

A total of 33 more cases of Covid-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.

In all, 61,613 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged.

There are currently 207 confirmed cases who are still in the hospital, with two in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

A total of 323 are isolated and cared for at community facilities.

A total of 33 people have passed away from complications due to Covid-19 infection.
