On May 18, the Ministry of Education (MOE) announced that three more students tested positive for Covid-19.
The students are from Yuhua Primary school, Catholic High School (Primary), and CHIJ (Katong) Primary.
Two of the three primary school students are linked to previous tuition centre or day care clusters.
Yuhua Primary School
A student from Yuhua Primary School was tested positive for Covid-19 on May 17.
The student was last in school on May 14 and was well, but was subsequently placed on Quarantine Order as his household member had tested positive on that day.
All his close contacts in the school have since been placed on Quarantine Order and will be required to undergo the Covid-19 PCR swab tests.
Catholic High School (Primary) linked to Learning Point Tuition Centre
The student from Catholic High School (Primary) tested positive for Covid-19 on May 17.
He had last been in school on May 12 and was well, but was subsequently placed on Quarantine Order from the same day, as he had attended classes run by an infected private tutor at Learning Point Tuition Centre (Parkway Centre).
All his close contacts in the school have been placed on Quarantine Order and they will be required to undergo the Covid-19 PCR swab tests.
CHIJ (Katong) Primary linked to Seedlings World Student Care@ Frankel
The student from CHIJ (Katong) Primary tested positive for Covid-19 on May 17.
The student was last in school on May 11 and was well, but was subsequently placed on Quarantine Order from May 14 as she had attended the same external student care centre, Seedlings World Student Care @ Frankel, as an earlier confirmed case from St Stephen’s School.
As she has been isolated during the infectious period, there were no close contacts in her school that would need to be placed on Quarantine Order.
Home-based learning
On May 16, MOE announced that all primary, secondary, junior college (JC) and Millennia Institute (MI) students, including students from Special Education (SPED) schools, will shift to full Home-Based Learning (HBL) from May 19 till the end of the term on May 28.
According to MOE, Yuhua Primary School has already started HBL, while Catholic High School (Primary) and CHIJ (Katong) Primary will start HBL on May 19, as planned.
Beyond existing safe management measures, the affected schools have implemented additional precautions to ensure the safety of students and staff, minimise the risk of transmission, and prevent the development of school-based clusters.
This includes the thorough cleaning and disinfection of school premises.
