Kentaro Miura, the author of legendary manga "Berserk", has died at 54.
The announcement was made by Hakuesha, a Japanese publishing company.
According to the statement, Miura passed away on May 6 from "acute aortic dissection".
Staff over at Young Animal Comics, which is where "Berserk" is serialised, paid their respects to Miura.
Widely considered one of the best manga titles, Miura's "Berserk" tells the story of a mercenary, Guts, and his quest for vengeance on his former friend Griffith, and has been in publication since 1989.
The critically acclaimed series even won the prestigious Tezuka Osamu Award for Excellence in 2002.
It has also been adapted into an anime show, with the latest one being the 2016 TV series.
As a result of Miura's passing, it's likely that the series will be left unfinished.
