An eagle ray was caught near Bedok Jetty at East Coast Park.
The ray was caught after what seems like a tough struggle between man and animal.
The angler, and his fishing rod, can be seen straining to pull his catch out of the water, as a crowd looked on:
The video also captured the ray being pulled out of the water to gasps from the crowd.
A voice speaking in Hokkien can be heard cautioning others against getting stung by the ray's tail, while others are heard remarking on its large size.
The footage was uploaded on Facebook on May 28, and has been shared over 1,000 times.
While the exact date of the catch is unknown, a number of those in the crowd are wearing masks, indicating that the video could be a recent one.
Eagle ray populations under threat from overfishing
The animal was identified as an eagle ray by commenters, including some who said that this species should be released once it is caught, as it is an endangered species.
Spotted Eagle Rays are classified as "Vulnerable", according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species, while White-spotted Eagle Rays are classified as "Endangered".
Globally, their populations have been on a decline due to slow reproduction rates and overfishing.
The eventual fate of the creature caught at East Coast Park is unknown.
