A second student from Anglo-Chinese School (Junior) has tested positive for Covid-19.
According to the Ministry of Health on May 22, this is the first case of school-based transmission.
The second student was last in school on May 18. He was well, but had been placed on Quarantine Order as his classmate had tested positive on May 19.
The student then developed a fever on May 20, and took the Covid-19 PCR swab test.
The school was informed on May 21 that he had tested positive.
Close contacts of both confirmed cases have been identified and placed on Quarantine Order. They will also be required to undergo the Covid-19 PCR swab tests.
The school has started full Home-Based Learning since May 19. As an added precautionary measure, the school premises have been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.
MOE strongly urges all parents to comply with the ministry's screening policy to keep their children at home and inform the school immediately if they have household members who have acute respiratory illness, or have reason to believe they might have been infected with Covid-19 infection.
