The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed 20 new cases of Covid-19 infection on April 11.

This brings the total number of cases in Singapore to 60,653.

Sole dormitory case

There is one case of locally-transmitted Covid-19 infection reported today.

The sole locally-transmitted case is case 61822, a 23-year-old male Indian national who is a Work Permit holder employed by Seafront Support Company Pte Ltd as a lashing specialist.

He resides in a dormitory located at Brani Terminal Avenue.

The case is currently unlinked.

He is asymptomatic and was detected when he was tested on April 7 as part of Rostered Routine Testing (RRT).

His earlier tests from RRT, the last being on Mar. 24, were all negative for Covid-19.

His serology test has come back positive though MOH has assessed that this is likely a current infection.

Vaccinated on Jan. 25

Case 61,822 received his first dose of Covid-19 vaccine on Jan. 25 and the second dose on Feb. 17.

This, according to MOH, likely accounts for his lack of symptoms and the positive serology test as he has produced antibodies following the vaccination.

MOH stressed that it is possible for a vaccinated individual to get infected with Covid-19, though, the vaccine is effective in preventing symptomatic disease for the vast majority of those vaccinated.

Further research is required to determine if the vaccination will also prevent onward transmission of the infection.

Epedemiological investigations are in progress.

19 imported cases

All 19 are imported cases, arriving from places such Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Myanmar and the Philippines.

All had already been placed on Stay Home Notice (SHN) upon arrival in Singapore and were tested while serving SHN.
