Since Oct. 2, 2020, Grab has lifted its added precautionary measure of leaving the front seat of a Grab car vacant.

This means that passengers can sit in the front seat when taking a Grab car, thus allowing for a total of four passengers to ride together again.

Resumption of more activities

This decision was made following the Ministry of Health's (MOH) announcement from Sep. 23 to resume more activities safely, and in light of community cases remaining low, according to a Facebook post by Grab.

The announcement said that the Multi-Ministry Taskforce would ease measures to facilitate business operations by supporting essential business travel, and enabling more employees to return to the workplace.

Passengers were disallowed in front seats from June 2

Grab's updated safety policy against Covid-19 was first introduced on June 2, about two weeks before Phase 2 of Singapore's safe reopening was announced.

Disallowing passengers to ride in the front seat beside the Grab drivers was one of the enhanced precautionary measures against Covid-19.

Other measures include allowing drivers to cancel bookings if Grab passengers do not wear a mask or are unwell, which are still in place.
