21 diners in S'pore fined for intermingling across tables, not wearing masks promptly after eating

Two F&B outlets were also ordered to close for 10 days.

In the fight to curb the spread of Covid-19, 21 diners have been fined, and two more F&B outlets have been shut down after violating safe management measures.

The two affected outlets were Tong Xin Ru Yi Traditional Hotpot located at 6 Lorong Telok, and Invincible Noodle House at 13 Circular Rd.

Closed for 10 days

On Oct. 3, nine customers were found spread out across two tables in a private room and intermingling at the hotpot restaurant.

On the same day, several customers were found consuming alcohol at 11:40pm in Invincible Noodle House.

Consumption and sales of alcohol on restaurant premises is prohibited after 10:30pm.

Both outlets were then ordered by the Urban Redevelopment Authority to close for 10 days from Oct. 6 and Oct. 3 respectively.

From Sep. 25 onwards, another 13 F&B outlets were also fined for breaching safe management measures.

These include admitting and seating groups of over five individuals from different households together, allowing groups to intermingle, seating groups less than one metre apart, and not ensuring that food handlers were wearing their masks properly.

The 13 outlets are:

  8. Nakhon Kitchen, Vivocity, #B2-23C
  9. Riverwalk Tandoor, 20 Upper Circular Road, #B1-38
  10. Tai Yuan (Singapore) Business Development Pte. Ltd., 163A Gangsa Road #01-01
  11. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, East Wing, Suntec City, #02-603/604
  12. V6 Foodcourt Holdings Pte Ltd, 678A Choa Chu Kang Crescent, #01-01 (Multi-Storey Carpark)
  13. Yen, 39 Duxton Hill

12 of the outlets were fined S$1,000, while Hong Hu Restaurant was fined S$2,000 for a repeat offence.

21 people fined S$300

A total of 21 individuals will also be fined S$300 for not observing safe management measures at F&B outlets at Resorts World Sentosa, Boat Quay, and Clarke Quay.

The incidents had occurred on Oct. 2 and Oct. 3.

These individuals gathered and sat in groups of over five, intermingled between tables, and did not put on their masks promptly after eating or drinking.

The Ministry of Sustainability and Environment stated that although diners might continue conversing and interacting after their meals, they should do so with their masks on in order to prevent the spread of droplets.

During this same period, government agencies conducted inspections at 77 F&B outlets located at "known hotspots".

Among these, four were found to have breached SMMs.

The breaches involved groups of more than five seated together or intermingling between tables, seating groups of customers less than one metre apart and the serving and consumption of alcohol past 10:30pm.
