A popular Johor Bahru eatery, Tang Tea House, has announced its closure on Sep. 16.
The eatery house is known for its mini tom yum hotpot and has apparently been operating at Johor Bahru City Square for over 20 years.
They are not related to the Tang Tea House, a halal Chinese restaurant group operating in Singapore.
Tang Tea House also thanked customers for their support and said that the closure was due to the "cruel" Covid-19 pandemic and an upcoming major renovation at Innercity, a section in the mall with clothing and snacks retailers.
Tang Tea House said it made this decision after much deliberation, and that it was unable to reach an agreement with the mall's management due to the uncertainties ahead.
Due to the restriction measures, the eatery was only able to resume operations at its physical shop in mid-July.
While they have decided to close the outlet at City Square, Tang Tea House has two outlets operating at R&F Mall and Eco Cascadia.
Many commenters online expressed their sadness over the closure.
