KOI Singapore will be launching the Biscuit Milk Tea in September 2020.
The drink, priced at S$4.90, features KOI's milk tea topped with Milo and Lotus Biscuit crumbs, and a drizzle of the Lotus Biscuit spread.
When KOI sent it to us, it was delivered with the Lotus Biscuit and Milo crumbs separated in a a small container.
The drink itself, without the crumbs is exactly as you would expect it to be - just milk tea. That said, the drizzle of Lotus Biscuit spread makes it look enticing.
I took a sip of the milk tea before adding in the crumbs but could not taste any hint of Lotus Biscuit spread.
Lotus Biscuit and Milo crumbs
Opening the container, I could smell the strong scent of the Lotus Biscuit crumbs, which overpowered the Milo crumbs. As a Lotus Biscuit fan, I did not mind one bit.
In fact, if I wasn't aware that there were Milo crumbs, I probably would have assumed that it was just Lotus Biscuit crumbs.
Next, I topped the drink with the Lotus Biscuit and Milo crumbs. I half expected the crumbs to sink immediately, as some of the crumbs were rather chunky.
However, I was pleased when the crumbs stayed afloat.
The end result looked quite similar to the drink on the poster.
The taste
Depending on your preference, you can give the drink a stir before taking a sip, or you can leave the crumbs on top.
I did the former, and gave it a stir but some of the crumbs remained buoyant.
The first few sips had me happily chewing on the crunchy Lotus Biscuit crumbs.
However, if you enjoy crunchy bits in your milk tea, I would recommend not taking your time with the drink — it's a 15 minutes "grace period" before the crumbs became soggy.
This is what the Biscuit Milk Tea looks like after a while:
It also wasn't too sweet, but that's coming from someone with a sweet tooth.
The drink also reminds me of the Lotus Biscuit version of Milo Dinosaur.
Lotus Biscuit crumbs are crunchier and chunkier than the Milo powder, though.
Rating: 7/10
The drink reminds me of a crunchy, Lotus Biscuit version of the Milo Dinosaur I love.
Though I could probably just buy my own Lotus Biscuit and top my KOI milk tea with it, I would rather purchase the KOI Biscuit Milk Tea for convenience.
