Singapore has been in Phase 2 for what feels like a long time.
Which is about three months.
More recently, the number of Covid-19 cases in Singapore has finally fallen to low two-digit figures, with community cases even reaching low single-digit figures.
The infection rate among foreign workers in dormitories is expected to decline as routine testing continues, Minister for Education Lawrence Wong said on Sep. 23.
As the Covid-19 situation is under control, the Multi-ministry Taskforce (MTF) announced that the restrictions on social activities will be further relaxed from October onwards.
So, the next question will naturally be: When is Phase 3?
Roadmap towards Phase 3 expected to be ready in few weeks' time
At the press conference on Sep. 23, Wong, who is MTF co-chair and education minister, said the taskforce is "charting out the roadmap to Phase 3".
This progress means that the government might soon allow more people for visitations and dining-in at eateries, relaxing the current five-person rule.
There will also be updates on rules around social activities, events in the community, and border measures.
Wong said:
"These progressive steps of opening are part of the roadmap towards Phase 3 and, as I've said earlier, we will work through the potential pathway to Phase 3 and we will share that with everyone when we are ready... perhaps in a few weeks' time."
