Golden Mile Food Centre, also known as the Beach Road Army Market, will be closing temporarily in December 2020.
According to Lianhe Zaobao, the food centre will be closed for renovation and is expected to reopen in March next year.
The hawkers will be taking a break during this period as there is no suitable site for relocation.
The last time that the market closed for a makeover was 18 years ago in 2002.
Back then, the market closed for six months.
The revamp of the food centre will include changing of ventilators and fans to provide a comfortable environment for diners.
The three-storey Golden Mile Food Centre has been in operation for 45 years and is an iconic spot in Singapore.
Many enjoy the hawker food at the first and basement levels.
The second level is frequented by those serving National Service or outdoor enthusiasts to purchase equipment or necessities.
The exact date of closure was not reported.
