Singapore celebrated its 55th birthday yesterday (Aug. 9).
It was a particularly different National Day, given that Singapore is celebrating it in the middle of a global pandemic.
For some, Covid-19 has definitely made the island feel a bit isolated from the rest of the world, especially when overseas travel does not look like it will resume anytime soon.
So it is a nice reminder of Singapore's presence around the world when we see other countries commemorating Singapore's National Day too.
The tallest building in the world
The tallest building in the world — the Burj Khalifa in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) — lit up with the Singapore flag.
They even played the national anthem accompanied to a simulation of the flag waving in the wind.
Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) commented on the gesture in a Facebook post.
The Burj Khalifa was not the only building in the UAE to light up.
The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company Headquarters also lit up with the Singapore flag.
Cool.
