The Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed an additional 132 cases of Covid-19 in Singapore as of 12pm on Aug. 8.

This brings the total number of cases to 54,929.

The vast majority are work permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories who were tested during their isolation or quarantine period.

There is only one case in the community, who is a Singaporean.

There are also six imported cases, all of whom have been placed on Stay-Home Notice upon arrival in Singapore.

Further updates will be shared by MOH this evening.

In a Facebook post on August 7, Multi-ministry Taskforce (MTF) co-chair Lawrence Wong said that the MTF would have finished testing all workers in the dormitories by the end of that day.

Covid-19 vaccine trials

Human testing for a Covid-19 vaccine in Singapore will begin next week.

According to ST , early-stage clinical trial for a Covid-19 vaccine has started. The first vaccinations are expected to be given to volunteers next week.

Around 100 people will take part in the trial, comprising persons in their 20s to 50s.

The trial will be administered by the SingHealth Investigational Medicine Unit.

The vaccine, Lunar-Cov19, is developed by Duke-NUS Medical School and U.S. pharmeceutical company Arcturus Therapeutics Holdings.
