The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Here what's the aftermath looked like.
The elderly couple's bedroom appears to be completed razed and blackened with soot.

Pritam shared that by the time he arrived, the fire had already been put out by SCDF officers.
Upon checking up on the residents, Pritam discovered that an elderly couple resided in the affected apartment.
The son of the elderly residents' neighbour helped them out of their unit in time.
Fortunately, the elderly couple is uninjured and they will be staying at their daughter's place for the time being, while repairs are being carried out at their house.
In his Facebook update, Pritam also thanked all authorities, including the SCDF team, the police, staff from HDB and Aljunied-Hougang Town Council.
Additionally, he gave a shout-out to some foreign workers who had helped to remove the water used to put out the fire from the waterlogged corridors, as it was leaking to the units on the floor below.
He also thanked Eunos residents who reached out to offer support and assistance to the family affected by the fire, as well as the quick-thinking neighbour who assisted the elderly man out of his apartment.
