PAP Jurong GRC candidate shares childhood photo with cousin Ong Ye Kung

Senior Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam recently introduced Xie Yao Quan, a new People's Action Party (PAP) candidate who is also part of PAP's Jurong GRC team.

It was recently revealed by Education Minister Ong Ye Kung that he and Xie are cousins.

On June 30, Xie shared a throwback photo of him and Ong when they were much, much younger.Calling his cousin "Minister Ong", he shared that as they are "several years apart" (15 years, to be exact), he would remember seeing Ong in front of the television following "economic news and other serious matters" during family gatherings.

Meanwhile, young Xie and his brother would be playing on their own.

Thankful for advice

He said that he has been following his work closely since Ong entered politics.

He also thanked Ong for his advice "to care and to stay humble" and wished him all the best.

Xie ended the post with this quip:

"I wish I were a bit taller like him but alas, that part of the genes didn't run through."
