Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong addressed the nation on April 3, 2020 regarding the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the speech, a blue cup caught the attention of many Singaporeans after they noticed that PM Lee would take a sip from the cup before speaking again, at times in a different language.

It was subsequently coined the 'magical language-changing cup'.

The cup was hand-painted by Supermama's staff in Japan.

Special mention was also given to one Vera Leng, who apparently scrolled through PM Lee's Instagram account to spot "several occasions" where the magical cup made an appearance.

According to the product description, the cup is designed with the motif of the Tembusu flower and leaves as it is one of Singapore's heritage trees.

"Notwithstanding its magical powers, the porcelain cup is designed with the motif of the Tembusu flower and leaves. Named as one of Singapore's heritage tree, the Tembusu is known for its resilience, dynamism, purpose, and usefulness - much like the little cup that brings hope in the midst of uncertainties."

Their flagship store is closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, however, you can still purchase the cup via their online store here.

The first batch is currently sold out and they are only accepting pre-orders for now.
