Singaporean film maker Anthony Chen has voted in this 2020 General Election while in London -- ahead of everyone else.
The 36-year-old, an overseas voter, wrote about his experience in a Facebook post on July 9, a day before the polls are held in Singapore on July 10.
Chen wrote that he and others in London "might just be the first Singaporeans to be voting in the world".
To get to the polling station at Knightsbridge, Chen had to cycle for 40 minutes and it drizzled towards the end of his ride.
He wrote about the emotional experience of casting his ballot and said he was touched to see other Singaporeans there with luggage in tow, as they were assumed to have flown into London from around continental Europe just to exercise their democratic right.
Chen added in his post: "Friends in Singapore, tomorrow’s your turn. Treasure your right to vote."
Chen has directed two feature films, Ilo Ilo (2013) and Wet Season (2019).
