During a press conference on June 15, the Multi-ministry Taskforce (MTF) announced that Singapore is ready to enter Phase 2 (safe transition).
Social gathering allowed but limited to five people
Phase 2 will start after 11:59pm on June 18, and small-group social gatherings of up to any five people will be allowed during this period.
MTF also added that each household can receive up to five visitors at any one time.
As a precautionary measures, individuals should still maintain safe distancing of at least one metre at all time in public places where possible.
In situations where safe distancing between individuals is not feasible, such as dining in restaurants, safe distancing will apply between groups.
The one-metre rule will have to be enforced between groups comprising not more than five people to avoid mixing between groups of strangers.
More people allowed to attend weddings, wakes and funerals
The MTF also updated on the number of attendees allowed at social events such as weddings, wakes and funerals.
Up to 10 people (excluding the solemniser) are allowed to attend wedding solemnisations at home, ROM or ROMM.
At other venues, up to 20 people (excluding the solemniser) are allowed, depending on the venue's capacity limit based on safe management principles.
Up to 20 people are allowed to be present at wakes and funerals at any one time as well.
With more social activities and mingling allowed, the MTF also reminds all people to continue exercising personal responsibility to protect themselves and their families.
This includes keeping up good hygiene practices, downloading TraceTogether app, checking-in and out on Safe Entry, and limiting their interactions to a regular circle of close contacts.
At the press conference, MTF co-chair Lawrence Wong urged everyone to bear in mind that all these precautionary measures have to be "taken in a package" so as to overall reduce the overall number of community transmission.
