The 117/19 Officer Cadet Commissioning Parade was a little different from usual.

Normally, an officer cadet commissioning parade is held at the parade square of the SAFTI Military Institute.

Conducted over five days in small batches

In view of the current Covid-19 situation, the ceremony was replaced with a small-scale proceeding indoors.

It was conducted in small groups over the span of five days.

Everyone present at the ceremony was also wearing a face mask.

According to the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), a total of 374 cadets were commissioned as officers of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).

293 of the graduands were from the Army, 34 were from the Navy, and 47 were from the Air Force.

Brought uniforms home

Prior to the small event, the cadets were also allowed to bring home their ceremonial uniforms to capture their graduation photo with family members and loved ones.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Heng Swee Keat made a guest appearance via a recorded video message to address the graduands as the Reviewing Officer for the proceedings.
