Home makeovers are pretty enthralling to watch.

To watch a house or room transformed into an inviting and cosy space gives many of us comfort, and perhaps the hope that we can do the same with our own homes.

Major makeover

One series of photos on Facebook showing the makeover of a crusty terrace house in Malaysia has gone pretty viral—garnering over 11,000 shares in two days.

The house is apparently 30 years old, and its transformation was carried out by Buat Design, an interior design firm based in Ipoh, Perak.

Here's what the exterior previously looked like. The structure is visibly old, and covered in stains.

The yard is also overgrown, and the fences falling apart.

The house received a new coat of white paint and was outfitted with some simplistic black window frames and railings.

The entranceway was remodelled as well, with some plants and gravel to revitalise it.

Minimalist interior

The interior of the house, previously dirty and bare, was also decorated with modern furnishings.
