A Harry Potter theme park will be opening in Tokyo in the first half of 2023.
It will take over Toshimaen, a 94-year-old amusement park that is one of the biggest in Tokyo, Japan Times reported.
Tohimaen will close its doors permanently on August 31, 2020, and Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. will be running the Harry Potter theme park with its lease under Itochu Corp.
However, the new park will not have any rides, unlike its Universal Studios Japan counterpart.
According to Timeout, it will instead be similar to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in London, where visitors can explore the production sets, view props and costumes, as well as discover the magic behind the making of the movie.
Besides the Harry Potter theme park, part of the 22-hectare land has also been sold to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, which plans to use it as emergency shelters for disasters.
