A dog in Wuhan, China waited for its owner on a bridge for four days and would not budge.
But its owner was not coming back.
This was after the dog's owner jumped from the bridge into the waters below.
The dog was found sitting patiently on the pavement of Yangtze Bridge by a local identified as Xu, according to Chutian Metropolis Daily.
As the dog appeared clean and docile, Xu realised it was likely someone's pet.
Photos showed the dog looking from the bridge at the waters below.
The dog had also refused to consume food and water from Xu, who is a stranger to it.
Xu then the matter to social media by sharing photos of the dog in the hopes that someone else would adopt it.
However, the dog was no longer around and has since gone missing.
Du Fan, director of the Wuhan Small Animal Protection Association, subsequently confirmed that the dog’s owner had jumped off the bridge.
The gender of the dog's owner remains unclear, but officials reportedly investigated the incident.
The association has started to appeal for help to locate the dog and find it a new home.
“We are still counting on finding a new owner for the dog. We think it’s too sad for such a loyal dog to stray on the streets,” Du Fan said.
