Residents in Singapore can start collecting the improved reusable masks from May 26.
Both adult-sized and kid-sized masks can be used up to 30 times and are recommended to be hand washed.
However, some residents who have collected the adult-size Ultra Masks shared photos of their masks turning brownish after washing.

Possibly due to inappropriate washing
The brown stain that appeared on the masks after wash is likely due to inappropriate washing.
Notably, there is a metal strip or nose wire that is fitted in the mask as indicated on the Ultra Mask packaging, which might explain why hand washing is recommended.
According to an instruction video by Ultra Masks, users are also supposed to rub the fabric gently with soap.
The video also warned users not to twist or wring the mask while washing and not to use detergent or bleach.
Can exchange for new masks
In response to Mothership's query, a People Association spokesperson confirmed that for those whose masks are stained after wash can go to the community club for an one-for-one exchange during the mask collection period.
A total of 109 community clubs have mask collection counters open from 10am to 6pm, till June 14.
You might want to bring along your identification card for the exchange as well.
