The Johor state government said on May 1 that it detected three new Covid-19 cases involving Malaysians who returned from Singapore.

The three persons tested positive while undergoing mandatory isolation at one of the quarantine stations in the southern Malaysian state.

"The three new cases are not local cases, but rather imported cases by Malaysian citizens from Singapore," Johor Health and Environment Committee chairman R. Vidyananthan said in a statement, Malay Mail reported.

Details about the infection are scant though.

Johor numbers low

Vidyananthan also revealed the number of cumulative cases and number of recoveries in Johor.

Cumulative number of cases: 663, with no deaths recorded

Cumulative number of recoveries: 382

The Health Ministry's director-general Noor Hisham Abdullah in Putrajaya, said Malaysia recorded 69 more Covid-19 cases on Friday, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 6,071.

This is the country's 17th consecutive day of only double-digit new cases.

The plunge in cases is evident as compared with the daily triple-digit new cases in March and early April.

Malaysia also announced businesses can gradually reopen from May 4.
