The Ministry of Health (MOH) has announced 528 new cases of Covid-19 infection on Apr. 30.
Of these, 488 are Work Permit holders residing in dormitories, making for the majority of new cases.
Most of these patients have a mild illness and are being monitored in the community isolation facilities or the general ward of hospitals.
Three, however, are currently in the intensive care unit (ICU).
2 workers' conditions worsened, 1 admitted directly to ICU
Two of them had been admitted to the hospital from Apr. 18 and 19, and were transferred to the ICU when their condition deteriorated.
The third one was admitted directly to the ICU, and was subsequently confirmed with Covid-19 infection.
This marks a change from the previous day's (Apr. 29) report, where MOH said that there were no Work Permit holders from dormitories in the ICU.
Earlier on Monday (Apr. 27), MOH's director of medical services Kenneth Mak said in a press conference that none of the foreign workers from dormitories were in the ICU at that point.
The total number of confirmed cases locally stand at 16,169.
For the past few weeks, the vast majority of the cases are Work Permit holders residing in dormitories.
As of Apr. 30, they make up 13,842 of the total confirmed cases.
