A Singaporean woman who allegedly left her house twice to meet her boyfriend during the Covid-19 circuit breaker period is facing a fine of up to S$10,000, six months' jail, or both -- and more.
According to CNA, she allegedly left her house thrice for social reasons.
She went to meet her boyfriend twice and a friend the third time.
As a result, Renukha Arumugam, 30, was charged in court on May 22 with five counts under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) Act 2020.
Two of the charges were for meeting individuals not from her household for a social purpose, and two other charges were for leaving her house without reasonable excuse.
She was also charged with one count of not wearing a mask properly when outside.
However, it was not stated how she got caught.
What happened
On April 12 at about 3am, she allegedly left her Jurong West flat.
She met her boyfriend at a stone bench in front of Block 713, Clementi West Street 2.
On April 17, she allegedly left her flat again at 12.30pm to meet her boyfriend at that block.
She also allegedly did not wear her mask over her nose and mouth at 1.30pm that same day.
She was at the entrance of the car park at Block 724, Clementi West Street 2 when this incident happened.
Her fifth charge was for meeting an unspecified individual from a different household at 10.50am on April 29 at Block 433, Jurong West Street 41.
She met this friend to go to a supermarket.
"I'm unemployed, so if you are going to give me a heavy fine, I don't think I can pay," she said, as reported by CNA.
She will be back in court on June 10 to plead guilty.
She faces a maximum six months' jail, a fine up to S$10,000, or both per charge.
