China has donated surgical and KN95 masks to Singapore's national stockpile.
Donation of masks from China
On May 5, the Ministry of Health said in a press release that this was to assist the Singapore government's efforts to manage Covid-19.
Senior Minister of State for the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Transport Lam Pin Min received a donation of masks from the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China Hong Xiaoyong at the Ministry of Health on May 5.
A total of 500,000 surgical masks and 100,000 KN95 masks were donated.
Lam expressed his "heartfelt appreciation" for China's donation, and is "heartened that Singapore and China have been working closely together" to curb the spread of Covid-19.
"Such robust collaboration during this difficult time is testament to the strong friendship between our countries," Lam said.
Singapore-China diplomatic relations
This year, Singapore and China mark the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
Singapore is also looking forward to working closely with China to further bilateral relations, the press release stated.
Previously, in February, Singapore had provided assistance to China in the form of seed funding, as well as medicine, medical supplies, and diagnostic test kits.
