A boy in Singapore was so overjoyed to be eating McDonald's again that he started crying tears of joy.
This tale of comfort food doing its thing came after the fast food restaurant shut all its Singapore outlets for three straight weeks from April 19 till May 10, 2020.
The boy's priceless reaction on video has led to scores of others in Singapore and around the world to commiserate.
What happened
The boy, Adam Bin Mohammad Irwan, was given the treat by his mother, Madam Wati.
The mother of four bought the McDonald's meals from Pioneer Mall for her children as a surprise on May 18 to break fast.
In a bid to conceal the recognisable brown paper bags, Madam Wati hid the food in red plastic bags.
But she said she didn't think that would work that well: "I think the smell will give it away."
When Adam was initially led out of his room, he assumed his mother was pulling a prank on him and he started throwing a tantrum, shrieking, and running around the table.
He then realised what was laid out on the table in front of him was the McDonald's meals.
He then started to cry and ran over to give his mum a hug.
"I thought you wanted to scare me," he said.
Madam Wati replied: "I didn't want to scare you! I wanted to surprised you. Look, what is it?"
Through tears he answered: "McDonald's."
Adam then ate from a box of Chicken McNuggets.
Madam Wati said that nuggets with fries and ice-cream was Adam's favourite meal, and explained that his "overreaction" was due to his sensory sensitivity and mild autism.
McDonald's re-opened on May 11, 2020, after it closed for three weeks to curb the spread of Covid-19 in Singapore.
