85 Singaporeans have returned from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on a special repatriation flight which landed this morning on Apr. 24.
According to a press statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), the group will proceed to serve their 14 days of self-isolation at Stay-Home Notice (SHN) facilities in Singapore.
This includes 40 students who were studying in Saudi Arabia, along with their dependents.
Flight was arranged as Saudi Arabia has suspended all commercial flights
The flight to bring the Singaporeans back was arranged by the Singapore government, as Saudi Arabia has since suspended all scheduled commercial flight services.
As such, the Singapore Embassy in Riyadh (capital of Saudi Arabia) and the Singapore Consulate-General in Jeddah coordinated the repatriation and ground operations for the flight.
