Job applicants in Seoul, South Korea, took a written exam while seated in safe distances apart at a football stadium on Saturday, April 4, 2020, as part of precautionary measures taken for Covid-19.

Took written exam in football field, five metres apart

Ansan Urban Corporation in Seoul held a 90-minute written exam for 139 job applicants at an outdoor football field, while implementing strict safety measures, according to KBS World.

Applicants were seated at desks spaced five metres apart across the field.

Before entering the test site, each applicant underwent a temperature check and was made to sanitize their hands and wear face masks.

The corporation's president said the company believed it should not postpone the recruitment of new employees amid the economic crisis caused by the pandemic, and that the public sector should lead by example when it came to employment.

Covid-19 infection curve flattens in South Korea

On April 6, 2020, South Korea recorded fewer than 50 new cases of Covid-19 on Monday, marking the lowest number since late February this year.

South Korea witnessed a sharp surge in Covid-19 cases throughout late February and March after a super-spreader from the Shincheonji religious group in Daegu caused the emergence of the country's largest virus cluster.

South Korea has recorded around 100 or fewer daily new cases for the last three weeks.

South Korean Vice Health Minister Kim Ganglip cautioned against reading too much into the one-day decline in daily infections, reported Yonhap News Agency.

He said that it could have been due to the fact that less people were getting tested on weekends.

"In the end, the success of slowing the virus depends on people," Kim told reporters.
